Cane Corso:-
McLemore's Kennel introduced the I.C.C.F Cane Corso Italian Mastiff to their breeding program in 1996 .At that time there were very few Cane Corso in America and the Cane Corso was considered a rare breed.

McLemore's Kennel has achieved the Goal of producing our own quality bloodline by meticulously acquiring beautiful examples of the breed from both Italian Import and American Bloodlines. McLemore's Kennel maintains the integrity of the breed by strictly adhering to the Italian S.A.C.C. (Societa' Amatori Cane Corso) and American A.K.C.(American Kennel Club),C.C.A.A.(Cane Corso Association of America) and I.C.C.F. (International Cane Corso Federation)Breed standards of perfection. We strive to produce both a loving Family companion and a trusted family guardian. Their area of origin is Southern Italy.

The history of the Cane Corso name is still uncertain but the most plausible explanation is that it is of Latin and Greek origins and translated means " Guard of the Courtyard " which certainly is an appropriate name considering it was once known as the "Dog of the Dukes" during the Middle Ages. The Cane Corso ancestor was a large Roman Dog called the Mollossur and the ancestor of the Cane Corso was more than likely pitted against Lions and other wild animals in the Gladiatorial arena. During and since the Medieval times the Corso has served as a Drover, Guard Dog, Farm Dog and Big Game hunter being used to hunt wild Boar, Bear and Stag.

Because of the wide range of uses they were originally bred for, they make a well rounded versatile Family Companion and Guardian today and are still an excellent choice for the Herder, Farmer and Hunter as well. A Cane Corso from McLemore's is bred for Quality and good temperament. In recent years the Cane Corso has been rising in popularity due to their good nature, loyalty to their family and unique beauty. Some people opt to crop the ears of the Cane Corso.

We sell our puppies with natural floppy ears and advise our clients to consult with their Veterinarian on the pros and cons of ear cropping so that they can make their own educated decision on the subject. Cropping can be a advantage for a herding ,hunting, or Farm dog as it limits ear infections and also the danger of injury to the ear. We think the Cane Corso look beautiful either cropped and uncropped . Our Cane Corso come in many colors, especially Grey/Blue, Chocolate Brindle, Black, Deer Fawn and other interesting brindle and solid colors.
